It is a little unrelated, but I know it can cause lots of frustration too when being trapped - so a fair word of warning: stay away from Blackwater or make a milestone save before entering. I think for Lost Chapel it is pretty much the same melody you get as Azata. The music puzzle at Lost Chapel was quick to solve (or I got super lucky) and was just randomly putting in sequences to just burn through them to see what order they needed to be. After that it was clear I had to look for a color code somewhere in the dungeon. The first one where you had to solve color based switches in the maze took me a little bit to realize there's 4 things that could be used MULTIPLE times in a sequence. I've only gone through a few puzzles so far in the game but yea, it's frustrating at times. I mean if you have to go out of your way to look elsewhere for the solution to an aspect in a game then couldn't that aspect be done differently to more clearly hint as to what should be done? Originally posted by Trip:So, the only real puzzle in wotr is "how do you use google"?Įxcept some people don't like having to use google to solve puzzles in a game. I like your suggestion for them, hopefully they look at it. I hope they are going to give it a second look, some small changes would go a long way. The same with the strategic overlay, it adds very little to the experience, but is clumsy and unpolished. With the bridges I was able to solve it in about 10 min once it became clear the switches needed to be up, prior to that I spent half an hour trying to get them all down. That's my biggest gripe with them, they aren't hard by any means, but when you don't even know what you are supposed to do it's frustrating for almost no reason. Well the one I was just stuck in was optional at first and then well became forced when you can't leave unless you solve it. It just happens that I liked them since they are that challenging until you figure out how they work. I just like to remind people: if it is no fun, you do not need to them. I have submitted a suggestion about them too (ALT+B while being ingame). I can understand to a certain degree the complaints and reactions towards the puzzles in the game. The game is great so far, but these puzzles are just terribly done, and so needlessly mechanically complicated that even when using a guide its just tedious. Each time I end up going to google because it simply isn't engaging or fun to try and solve them. I don't want to spend hours trying to figure out a puzzle when I can't even fathom what the objective is. Planting a bunch of symbols on the ground without so much as a hint as whats required with microscopic depictions in the inventory, or a series of color coded bridges is just dumb. So many of the puzzles in this game have 0 directives whatsoever in terms of what the end goal is. You are just expected to know and ♥♥♥♥ around with the puzzle for hours until you manage to get them all up or down. At no point does the game make it clear that the switches need to be in the up position. Each time I end up going to google because it simply isn't engaging or fun to try and solve them.Īs an example there is a puzzle later in the game that requires switches to be pressed to raise or lower bridges. Honestly I get this game is in severe need of polish and was funded via kickstarter, but Jesus Owlcat.
